Champions crowned in four Classes

The 1993 racing season at the Murray County Raceway is over, Track Championships have been decided in the four classes offered at the Raceway. Ron Pope, from Spencer, Iowa is the MCA Modified Champion, Kevin Pospisil from Worthington is the Stock Car Champion, Darin Wajer from Slayton is the Hobby Stock Champion and Jason Krohn from Slayton was the Bomber Champion.

Ron Pope led the point standings in the MCA Modified Class nearly all year. He was followed in the Dennis Hahn - Car Owner point standings by Joe Hanson from Walnut Grove, Jim Richert from Springfield and Chad Muecke from Slayton. Pope, driving the number 31, MCA Modified owned by Dennis Hahn had a very successful season, winning the MCA Championship Race in Boone, Iowa and is the current national point leader in the modified class. Ron and Dennis like the track and said that they would be back next year.

Kevin Pospisil and Mark DeBoer from Magnolia had a real battle for the Stock Car Division Championship, but Mark destroyed his racer with two races left in the season. Finishing third in the class was Mike Bosma from Harris, Iowa.
Darin Wajer enjoyed a very successful season in the Hobby Stock Class at the Murray County Raceway, earning more points than anyone in any class, Darin ran hard all year, Following Darin was Mark Sanow from Slayton, Ron Mitchell from Slayton and Fran Carlson from Garvin. Rumor has it that several of the front runners Hobby Stock Class are going to move into the Stock Car class next year.

Jason Krohn led the Bomber Class early in the season, and earned enough points to take the Championship before moving up into the Hobby Stock Class. Jason was followed by John Samuelson from Fulda, Jon Engelkes from Slayton and Don Christenson from lona.

More than eighty different cars earned points at the Murray County Raceway during the season, about half of them from within Murray County. Racing will begin next year on the Memorial Day weekend, events will be held every Friday night at 8 p.m.
