It was a warm Friday night as racing action returned to the Murray County Speedway. The races this week were sponsored by Marthaler Chevrolet, Ford & Dodge of Worthington. With all of our regular classes present and a nice car count, the night would be action packed.

S&S Electric MCRA Pickups
The MCRA pickups started out the night. 7 trucks made the call to the 8 lap feature. Jon Joehnck led the field to the green flag. Very early on in the race, contact resulted in Dan Jensen rolling multiple times bringing out the red flag. He was brought back to the pits for evaluation, but escaped the wreck with no serious injuries. When the race resumed, Joehnck maintained the lead. Jordan Rolling made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. Rolling was able to get around Joehnck for the lead. Jordan Rolling went on to take the feature win. Jon Joehnck finished second, Matt Odom finished third, and Scott Stirn finished fourth.

Plaid Moose Café IMCA Sport Compact
Following the pickups were the sport compacts. 14 cars made the call for the 12 lap feature. Kent Miller led the field to the green flag. When the green flag dropped, Miller jumped out to the early lead. Ryan Westman made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. Behind them, Josh Uhl, who started the feature in last, made his way to third and looked to reel in the leaders. Uhl was able to get around Westman and began to challenge for the lead. The battle between them would go right to the finish line. As they crossed the finish line, Josh Uhl was able to make the last second pass and win the feature race after starting in last place. Kent Miller finished second, Austin Friedrich finished third, and Tori Groebner finished fourth.

Legend Seeds Hobby Stocks
The hobby stocks were next to take the track. 14 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature. Derek Platt led the field to the green flag. As the green flag waved, Eric Gillette jumped out to the early lead. Trevor Holm, who had just got his car back together after a rollover last week, made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. Justin Luinenberg followed Holm through and joined in the battle for the race lead. After a late caution, Luinenberg got a great jump and took over the race lead. Holm followed him and looked to challenge for the lead, but would run out of time as Justin Luinenberg held on to take the win. Trevor Holm finished second, Eric Gillette finished third, and Justin Bolluyt finished fourth.

Sturdevant’s Auto Supply Sport Modifieds
Following the hobby stocks were the sport modifieds. 13 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature. Wade Gunnink led the field to the green flag.
