Racing action returned to the Murray County Speedway on a cloudy and windy Friday evening. Racing action featured all of the usual classes and the races were sponsored by Avoca Spray & Rowdy's Repair of Slayton.
S&S Electric MCRA Pickups
First up on the night were the MCRA pickups. 6 trucks made the call for the 8 lap feature. Keith Gertsema led the field to the green. On the start, Gertsema took the early lead. Jordan Rolling quickly stormed his way to the front and overtook Gertsema for the lead. Behind him, Matt Odom and Gertsema battled for second. It quickly turned into a three truck battle for the lead that came down to the finish. In the end, it was Keith Gertsema who took home the feature win. Matt Odom finished second, Jordan Rolling finished third, and Jason Wynia finished fourth.
Plaid Moose Café IMCA Sport Compact
Next to take the track were the sport compacts. 11 cars made the call for the 12 lap feature. Jordan Ahlers led the field to the green. On the start, Ahlers jumped out to the lead. Behind him, Josh Uhl and Robert Pottratz battled for second. After an early caution, problems for Ahlers brought out another caution which forced him to surrender the lead to Pottratz. On the restart, Kent Miller jumped out to the race lead. Dylan Schreier made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. The race would come down to the wire. In the end, Dylan Schreier went on to take the feature win by a nose. Kent Miller finished second, Tori Groebner finished third, and Robert Pottratz finished fourth.
Legend Seeds Hobby Stocks
Next up were the hobby stocks. 11 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature. Jordan Robinson led the field to the green flag. On the start, Derek Platt jumped out to the lead. Cory Probst made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. Malik Sampson was right behind them and joined in the battle for the lead. Probst got around Platt to take the race lead. Platt tried to take back the spot, but Sampson would get around him to take the second spot. Cory Probst went on to take the feature win. Malik Sampson finished second, Adam Snyder finished third, and Derek Platt finished fourth.
Sturdevant’s Auto Supply Sport Modifieds
Next up were the sport modifieds. 10 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature. Cole Bents led the field to the green flag. On the start, Bents jumped out to the race lead. Jim Horejsi made his way to second and quickly began to challenge for the lead. While these two battled for the lead, they pulled away from the rest of the field. Bents was able to hold on to the lead and pull away from Horejsi. After a late caution, Bents kept the race lead. Tony Rialson got to second and looked to challenge for the lead. He ran out of time and Cole Bents went on to take the win. Tony Rialson finished second, Jim Horejsi finished third, and Aaron Wiersma finished fourth.
Car Toyz Stock Cars
Next up were the stock cars. 8 cars made the call for the 18 lap feature. Kevin Debaere led the field to the green. On the start, Nick Johansen jumped out to the lead. Dan Mackenthun quickly made his way to second and got around Johansen for the race lead. Dustin Larson made his way to second and looked to reel in Mackenthun. Larson was able to and began to challenge for the lead. Mackenthun was able to hold on and take the win. Dustin Larson finished second, Jim Larson finished third, and Nick Johansen finished fourth.
RH Sealcoating & Asphalt IMCA Modifieds
Last to hit the track were the modifieds. 12 cars made the call for the 20 lap feature. Josh Rogotzke led the field to the green. On the start, Rogotzke took the lead. As the race went on, Tyler Limgoes quickly made his way through the pack after starting in last place. Limoges found his way to second and looked to reel in Rogotzke who had opened up a massive lead. However, Rogotzke would encounter lap traffic which allowed Limoges to pull right up behind him and challenge for the lead. Josh Rogotzke was able to fend off Limoges and take the feature win. Tyler Limoges finished second, Dalton Magers finished third, and Jesse Rogotzke finished fourth.
Racing action will return next Friday to the Murray County Speedway with all the same classes featured here. Next week is Salute to Ag night and admission to the grandstand will be free.
