Racing action returned to the Murray County Speedway this past Friday night. It ended up being a great night for racing. All of the usual classes were in attendance and ready to race. The races were sponsored by Midwest Supply of Slayton.

S&S Electric MCRA Pickups
Eight trucks made the call for the 8 lap feature. TJ Gertsema and Matt Odom led the field to the green. On the start, Gertsema took the race lead. Odom stayed close and quickly challenged. Craig Gertsema made a good pass and went from third to the race lead. Problems for Odom caused him to fall back. Scott Stirn got to second and looked to challenge for the lead. Craig Gertsema went on to take the win. Scott Stirn finished second, TJ Gertsema finished third, and Dustin Gransee finished fourth

Plaid Moose Cafe IMCA Sport Compact
Next up were the sport compacts. Seven cars made the call for the 10 lap feature. Josh Stanley and Josh Uhl led the field to the green. On the start, Kent Miller quickly made his way to the front and took the race lead. Dustin Virkus followed Miller and quickly challenged for the lead. Virkus was able to pull away and take the feature win. Kent Miller finished second, Brock Klaith finished third, and Joe Bunkofske finished fourth.

Wyffels Hybrids and Independent Ag IMCA Hobby Stocks
Next up were the hobby stocks. Eleven cars made the call for the 15 lap feature with Brad Snyder and Jeremy Johnson leading to the green. On the start, Snyder took the race lead. Corey Gronewald quickly began to challenge for the lead. Eric Gillette got around Gronewald for second, but Gronewald stayed close and challenged. Gronewald kept second and made the pass on Snyder for the lead. Cory Probst followed him through and began to challenge for the lead. Probst made the pass and secure the race lead. Cory Probst went on to take the win. Corey Gronewald finished second, Adam Snyder finished third, and Brad Snyder finished fourth.

Cars Limited IMCA Sport Modified
Next were the sport modifieds. Eleven cars made the call for the 15 lap feature. Tanner Gregoire and Shaun Wahl led to the green. On the start, Tony Rialson made a good move and took the race lead. Jeremy Van Ede quickly made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. After an early caution, Van Ede took over the race lead and pulled away to a large lead. Danny Myrvold began to challenge Rialson for second, but problems for him caused him to fall back. Jeremy Van Ede went on to take the feature win. Tony Rialson finished second, Cole Bents finished third, and Jim Horejsi finished fourth.

Cartoyz IMCA Stock Cars
Ten cars made the call for the 18 lap stock car feature with Chad Lonneman and Levi Feltman leading to the green. On the start, Feltman took the race lead. Kevin Debaere quickly challenged Lonneman for second. Lonneman was able to hold on to second. Meanwhile, Jeff Larson had already made his way to third and was able to pass Lonneman for second. Nick Johansen followed him through and looked to challenge. After a late caution, Feltman kept the lead. Larson and Johansen began to challenge for the lead, but problems for Johansen caused him to lose a bit of ground. Meanwhile, Larson made the pass for the lead. Feltman stayed close and challenged for the lead many times. Jeff Larson held on to take the win. Levi Feltman finished second, Nick Johansen finished third, and Kevin Debaere finished fourth.

O'Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Modified
Last up were the modifieds. Thirteen cars made the call for the 20 lap feature with Nick Ober and Bruce Egeland leading the field to the green. On the start, Jason Fisher quickly jumped out to the race lead. Dalton Magers quickly got to second and looked to challenge. Behind them, Tyler Limoges got to third and looked to catch the front 2. Meanwhile, Magers made the pass for the race lead. Limoges caught the front 2 and made it a 3 car battle. After a late caution, Magers kept the race lead. Fisher stayed close and battled Magers, throughout the corners. Behind them, Limoges and Aaron Krohn battled for third. Limoges kept third and looked to challenge. However, Dalton Magers went on to take the feature win. Jason Fisher finished second, Tyler Limoges finished third, and Aaron Krohn finished fourth.

Racing action will be back next Friday at the Murray County Speedway will all the same classes mentioned above. The races will be sponsored by Prairie Winds Construction of Tyler.
