Racing action returned to the Murray County Speedway this past Friday night. Mother Nature tried her hardest to stop racing from happening, but the track crew was able to get on the track to pump the water off, to have it ready for great racing action. All the usual classes were in attendance and the sponsor for the night was Prairie Winds Construction LLC of Tyler.
S&S Electric MCRA Pickups
Eight trucks made the call for the 8 lap feature with Dustin Gransee and Neil Forsberg led to the green. On the start, Forsberg took the early lead. Matt Odom quickly made his way to second. Craig Gertsema began to challenge for second. Gertsema made the pass for second and looked to challenge for the lead. However, problems for Forsberg brought out the yellow and surrendered the lead to Gertsema. On the restart, Gertsema kept the race lead. Odom challenged, but ran out of time and Craig Gertsema went on to take the win. Jason Wynia took second, Matt Odom took third, and Scott Stirn finished fourth.
Plaid Moose IMCA Sport Compact
Nine cars made the call for the 10 lap feature with Josh Uhl and Brock Klaith leading to green. On the start Uhl took the lead. However, problems for him caused him to leave the track and gave the lead to Kent Miller. Dustin Virkus made his way to second and looked to reel in Miller. Virkus caught up and began to challenge for the lead. He ran out of time and Kent Miller went on to take the feature win. Dustin Virkus finished second, Joe Bunkofske finished third, and Josh Stanley finished fourth. After post race inspection, Kent Miller was DQ’d for having racing springs in his car.
Wyffels Hybrids and Independent Ag IMCA Hobby Stock
A large count of seventeen cars made the call for the 15 lap feature with Jeremy Johnson and Ernie Dailey leading to the green. On the start, Eric Gillette jumped out to the early race lead. Blake Arends quickly got to second and began to challenge for the lead. After an early caution, Gillette kept the lead. Arends again challenged for the lead. Cory Probst was able to get around Arends for second and began to challenge for the lead. Arends stayed close and tried to take back the second spot. In the end, Eric Gillette went on to take the win. Cory Probst finished second, Blake Arends finished third, and Adam Snyder finished fourth.
Cars Limited IMCA Sport Modified
Thirteen cars made the call for the 15 lap feature with Danny Myrvold and Jared Nytroe led to the green. On the start, Myrvold took the race lead. Jim Horejsi quicky began to challenge for second. Horejsi was able to secure second and looked to challenge for the lead. Behind him, Jeremy Van Ede made his way to third and looked to contest for second. After a late caution, problems for Myrvold caused him to surrender the lead to Horejsi. Van Ede began to challenge, however problems for Van Ede, when he spun in corner two, brought out a caution. On the restart, Horejsi kept the lead. Tony Rialson began to challenge, but ran out of time as Jim Horejsi took the win. Tony Rialson finished second, Cole Bents finished third, and Jared Nytroe finsiehd fourth.
Cartoyz IMCA Stock Cars
Nine cars made the call for the 18 lap feature with Mike Carlson and Gary Mattison leading to the green. On the start, Mattison took the lead. Dustin Larson quickly made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. After an early caution, Larson took over the race lead and quickly pulled away from the field. Kevin Debaere secured second and looked to reel in Larson. After a late caution, Larson kept the race lead. Chad Lonneman quickly took the second spot and looked to challenge for the lead. In the end, Dustin Larson went on to take the win. Chad Lonneman finished second, Kevin Debaere finished third, and Nick Johansen finished fourth.
O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Modified
For the final feature of the night, the modifieds made their call for the 20 lap feature with Bruce Egeland and Jesse Rogotzke leading to the green. On the start, Rogotzke took the race lead. Dalton Magers quickly made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. After an early caution, Magers secured the race lead and quickly pulled away from the field. Tyler Limgoes was able to pass Rogotzke for the second spot and looked to reel in Magers. After a late caution, Magers kept the lead. Limoges was right there and battled for the lead. Dalton Magers was able to hold on and take the win. Tyler Limoges finished second, Jesse Rogotzke finished third, and Don Gerritsen Jr finished fourth.
