It was a very special night of races this past week as The Dominick Bruns Memorial race made its appearance at the Murray County Speedway. The Dominick Bruns Memorial race was set up in honor of young Dominick Bruns, who was taken from us very early in his life due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Our biggest night of the season, is this Friday night, as the Murray County Fair is currently taking place. Come early and enjoy the best county fair in Southwest Minnesota. Grandstand will open at 6pm, with racing action beginning at 7:30pm. Admission prices will be $13 for Adults, $9 for students and Kids: 10 and under are FREE.

This Friday night sponsors are Rowdy's Radiator & Diesel Repair and Avoca Spray Service. This season is quickly coming to an end. Make sure, you get a chance to see some of the very best drivers of SW Minnesota and NW Iowa, compete on the fast 3/8 mile speedway. Just for an example: Dustin Virkus was turning laps of 69-70mph in the Sports Compacts and Don Gerritsen Jr, clocking 84-85mph in the Modifieds. Looks to be a great evening at the Murray County Speedway.

After thirteen weeks of racing, the season championship for 2018 will be taking place this Friday night. Several classes have close battles for first place, especially in the Sports Mods class as Tony Rialson and Jeremy Van Ede are tied for first place, with Jim Horejsi just one point behind. We are not racing this Friday Sept 14th. With 2 day specials in Park Jefferson and Rock Rapids and a special in Fairmont this Friday, we decided not to run. We will have our fall special on Saturday Oct 6th. We will posting details and payouts soon. Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone in October.

Plans for the 2018 Murray County Speedway Fall are set for Saturday October 6th. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA/USRA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods/USRA B-Mods/WISSOTA Midwest Mods and IMCA/USRA Hobby Stock Cars are each racing for $1,000 in their classes. IMCA Sport Compacts are racing for $500 and MCRA Pickups are racing for $200. Racing to begin at 5pm. Entry fees for each class is listed below, pit crew fee is $30. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, children 10 and under is Free.

We are extremely sad that we have to announce that the races for tomorrow are cancelled. We got a little over a half inch of rain last night. We have water sitting in the pit area. The track soaked up to much water and is spongy. We don't want to have a rough track and tear up your equipment. And we dont want to tear up the track and the fairgrounds. The start of the 2019 season has begun. Aaron and Bruce are moving 1,000 yards of new dirt in all four corners, this morning. Special "Thank You's" need to go out to the following: Rupp Construction for use of their bulldozer, R.A. Muecke Sand & Gravel for hauling the dirt to the track and to the Murray County Commissioners for their support. The 2018 Murray County Speedway Banquet will be held on Saturday December 8th at the 4-H Building on the Murray County Fairgrounds. Banquet letters were sent out to drivers last week.
